• Temperature highs are still averaging over 80º – that’s just not fair to your feet.

  • the answer sadly is no … no, you cannot wear tall boots today or any day until October 1, 2019.

This is LITERALLY the most important election of our lives. If you need help understanding the ballot – the people or the initiatives – I can help you. If you need help finding your place to cast your ballot – I can help you.

  • No! It’s 90 degrees …

However as the rest of the retail world prepares for the onslaught of the holidays, I’ll give you this piece of advice – get your fruitcake cherries now.

    They’re baaaack!
And just like every year, they’ll run out.
More importantly they won’t be there when it’s time to make bacon wrapped cherries for holiday parties … and since I’m pretty sure these suckers would survive the apocalypse (along with cockroaches & Cher) it’s totally ok to go ahead and buy them NOW. I did.

    🥓🍒

    Here’s the recipe!

    Bacon Wrapped Cherries
    Ingredients
    • 36 red fruit cake cherries – these are typically only sold during holiday baking season (typically November & December but thanks to #ChristmasCreep – now)
      • You can use the green ones but they don’t look very appetizing when cooked.
    • 1 pound of bacon, cut slap into thirds
      • Generic/store brand bacon actually works best – thicker bacon takes longer and doesn’t crisp up as evenly
    • 36 toothpicks
      • Be sure to soak the toothpick in water
    • Heavy duty foil highly suggested
    Directions
    • Before anything – place toothpicks to be used in a bowl of water to soak for about 10 minutes prior to use to avoid burning
    • Set oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven’s broiler.
    • Wrap baking sheets in heavy duty foil
    • Start broiler so it’s ready when you are
    • Wrap each cherry with a bacon third
    • Secure each cherry bacon bundle with a toothpick and arrange on baking sheet
    • Drizzle reserved cherry juice over wrapped cherries.
    • Broil in preheated oven until bacon is crisped to your liking, 3 to 10 minutes – you just really have to watch them, because the will burn because of all the sugar and fat – it’s tedious, but worth it.

  • Was it a midlife crisis?
I kinda hope not, because I’m aiming for survival past 70 … so let’s say NO.

Also, no need in creating a whole new blog called canidyemyhairplatinumtoday.com … because it would have 1 entry and it would never be mentioned again. IMG_1380

I learned that the punk-princess look isn’t a great look for a “corporate environment” nor a safe bet in humid climates where you have to wash your hair somewhat frequently and can’t guarantee the minerals in the water won’t stain your hair.

Overall, it was a distraction, and I’d much rather be distracting because of the work I’m doing, instead of someone trying to figure out what statement I’m attempting to make with my hair.
Which is no statement at all.

I also learned that women are more apt to being mean in their comments about a look change and men were more apt to either stay silent or actually be complimentary about it. It was an interesting, albeit unintentional, social experiment.

What doesn’t kill you definitely does make you blonder – in some shade or another … and as my therapist hairstylist of the past 8 years reassured me … uber platinum is soooooo only the first 2 weeks of April ’15.
We now return to regular blonde.

  • Question of the day …

Can one wear tall boots on the Oscars Red Carpet?
THIS, my dears, is quite the conundrum. I can’t recall in recent history that this has happened. And I’m going to have to say … the envelope please… (visualize a very glittery envelope being passed) no. Tall boots are not red carpet appropriate.
And especially no if there becomes a “mani-cam” for boots … the “bootie-cam?” I despise the mani-cam and, well, the bootie-cam could just get all kinds of confusing.
